Terms of Service
1. Who We Are
Darkframe Studio (“we”, “us”, “our”) operates the website at darkframestudio.com and the game sites connected to it (together, the “Platform”). The Platform provides alternate reality game (“ARG”) experiences, player accounts, subscriptions, and a community space.
By registering an account or accessing any part of the Platform you agree to these Terms of Service (“Terms”). If you do not agree, you must not use the Platform.
2. Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years old to create an account and purchase a plan. By registering you confirm that you meet this requirement. We reserve the right to close accounts where we have reason to believe this condition is not met.
3. Your Account
You are responsible for keeping your login credentials secure. You must not share your account or allow anyone else to access it. Notify us immediately at support@darkframestudio.com if you suspect unauthorised access. We are not liable for any loss resulting from unauthorised use of your account.
4. Plans and Billing
We offer Studio Plans and Game Plans. Studio Plans grant access to all current and future Darkframe stories under a recurring subscription. Game Plans grant access to a specific game, either as a full subscription, a per-season pass, or a one-time purchase.
All payments are processed securely by Stripe. We do not store your full payment card details. Prices are displayed inclusive of any applicable taxes. By purchasing a plan you authorise us to charge your payment method on the billing cycle shown at checkout.
Subscription plans renew automatically at the end of each billing period unless you cancel beforehand. You can manage or cancel your subscription at any time via your account page. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period — you retain access until then.
5. Refunds
We offer refunds on a case-by-case basis. If you believe you are entitled to a refund, contact us within 14 days of the charge at support@darkframestudio.com. We will always act fairly and in accordance with your statutory rights under UK consumer law.
6. Access to Game Content
Access to game stories is granted while your plan is active. If your subscription lapses or your account is suspended, access to gated content is revoked until access is restored. Game content, puzzles, narratives, and all associated materials are provided for personal, non-commercial enjoyment only.
7. Community
The Darkframe Studio community is hosted at community.darkframestudio.com. Your account on that platform is governed by the community’s own rules, which you agree to when you join. We may suspend or terminate community access for behaviour that violates those rules or harms other players, without affecting your billing plan unless the conduct is severe.
8. Acceptable Use
You agree not to:
- Circumvent, reverse-engineer, or attempt to extract game content, puzzles, or source code without authorisation;
- Share spoilers, solutions, or game secrets in public spaces in a way that ruins the experience for others;
- Use automated scripts, bots, or tools to gain unfair advantage or stress-test our systems;
- Harass, threaten, or abuse other players or staff;
- Upload or transmit malicious code or attempt to compromise platform security;
- Impersonate Darkframe Studio staff or other players.
Breaches may result in suspension or permanent termination of your account, with no refund of remaining subscription value.
9. Intellectual Property
All content on the Platform — including but not limited to story scripts, artwork, puzzles, audio, video, character names, and the Darkframe Studio name and logo — is the property of Darkframe Studio or its licensors and is protected by copyright and other intellectual property laws. You may not reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works from any Platform content without our prior written consent.
10. Game Sites
Individual game stories are hosted on separate websites connected to darkframestudio.com. Your Darkframe Studio account and subscription are valid across all connected game sites. Each game site may have its own supplementary rules, which will be displayed within that game.
11. Service Availability
We aim to keep the Platform available at all times but cannot guarantee uninterrupted access. We may take the Platform offline for maintenance, updates, or in response to security incidents. We will not be liable for any loss or inconvenience caused by planned or unplanned downtime.
12. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Darkframe Studio shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the Platform. Our total liability to you for any claim shall not exceed the amount you paid to us in the 12 months preceding the claim.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or any other liability that cannot be excluded under UK law.
13. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will update the date at the top of this page and, for material changes, notify you by email. Continued use of the Platform after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
14. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes arising from or relating to these Terms or the Platform shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
